Physical Engineer

We are seeking a Physical Engineer for a Part-time Remote opportunity. All applicants must have prior Federal Government experience and be a US Citizen. No exceptions!!!!

Role Description:
  • Support the assessment of projects and programs related to the mitigation of risks to electric transmission and distribution systems and components due to electromagnetic interference, high-altitude electromagnetic pulses, and/or geomagnetic disturbances.
  • Support the development of requirements and objectives for solicitations and other initiatives that address physical security and natural hazard threats faced by the energy sector
  • Attend meetings, workshops, or other technical events in support of or in lieu of federal program managers, to help ensure adequate coverage of key events and documentation of important technical issues or outcomes.
  • Perform technical reviews of proposed projects and work in progress.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelors in (Masters or PhD preferred) in engineering, mechanical, electrical, or other related engineering
  • Prior Clearnce and/or work with federal gov/defense preferred
  • A total of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a range of engineering tasks related to
  • The assessment and/or mitigation of natural hazards risks to the energy sector (electric grid transmission and distribution systems and/or oil and natural gas distribution).
  • The mitigation of risks to electric transmission and distribution systems and components due to electromagnetic interference, high-altitude electromagnetic pulses, and/or geomagnetic disturbances.
  • Addressing the effects on other industrial control systems components, such as those used by the oil and natural gas sectors
  • Impact of artificial intelligence on energy hazards and risks
  • Seismic phenomenal, weather hazards effects on energy resources (electric, oil and gas)
  • Analyzing the application of experimental engineering theories and/or new applications and developments for research and development
  • Ability to assess the relevance and potential impacts of proposed and ongoing RD&D to reducing energy sector risk
