We are seeking a System Administrator for an onsite opportunity in Washington, DC to do the following tasks:
Key Responsibilities include:
Manage, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualized environments, and associated infrastructure.
Install, patch, upgrade, and harden operating systems, applications, and security tools.
Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and other enterprise services.
Monitor system performance, security events, and ensure adherence to compliance and operational standards.
Apply DISA STIGs and other hardening guidelines to systems and networks.
Perform daily system maintenance activities including backups, restores, and system health checks.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across multiple environments.
Maintain and support enterprise storage solutions and backup systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues affecting servers and end-user environments.
Document all system configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
Provide continuous monitoring scanning results and asset inventory reports as required.
Assist with vulnerability remediation, security incident response, and POA&M management.
Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation efforts.
Coordinate with engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and vendors for system improvements and upgrades.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 5+ years of system administration experience OR 8+ years of system administration experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server administration, Active Directory management, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, CNSS Policies).
Experience with system monitoring, patch management, and backup solutions.
Ability to administer, troubleshoot, and maintain classified systems and applications.
Must have an active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience supporting Department of Commerce (DOC) or similar federal agencies.
Familiarity with network infrastructure and server/storage hardware platforms (Dell, Cisco, VMware).
Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and cloud migration initiatives.
Must possess one of the following certifications such as COMPTIA Network+, and/or Security+.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 Foundation certification must be completed within 6 months.
