Network Engineer

We are seeking a Network Engineer for an onsite opportunity in Washington, DC to do the following tasks:


Key Responsibilities include:
  • Administer, operate, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection/protection devices, and related network security equipment.
  • Design, build, implement, and troubleshoot secure network systems in classified environments.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop integrated IT/network solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance for network operations, performance analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Conduct regular updates, patches, and upgrades to networking hardware and software.
  • Interface with vendor support to manage escalations, hardware issues, and warranty services.
  • Perform outage/impact analysis and document resolution activities.
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement and monitor disaster recovery plans for network operations.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and system engineering teams to ensure system security compliance and integration.
  • Monitor network performance, analyze traffic, and recommend optimizations to reduce latency and increase throughput.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and provide recommendations for system enhancements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of network engineering experience OR 10 years or related experience.
  • Strong expertise in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting within classified environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell networking devices, VMware, and Microsoft systems.
  • Proficient in network security protocols, VPNs, firewall configurations, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Ability to configure, optimize, and monitor enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
  • Must have an active Top Secret / SCI clearance.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting Department of Commerce (DOC) or similar federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, CNSS Policies, and related cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience implementing fault-tolerant and high-availability network architectures.
  • Must possess one of the following Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or higher professional certifications.
