Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced COMSEC Key Management Specialist to support our Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) operations. The successful candidate will manage cryptographic key material, ensure secure communications across the cryptonet, and serve as a liaison between operational teams and governing authorities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the security and integrity of sensitive communications infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the management of COMSEC key and crypto deployment to the cryptonet
• Support the DISN controlling authority by issuing, resupplying, and destroying keying material according to Telecommunications Service Order and operational needs
• Act as DISN COMSEC liaison to National Security Agency
• Develop and provide detailed ad hoc DISN COMSEC reports

Create and maintain accurate records of keying materials issued for specific aspects of the cryptonet to:

• Manage cryptonet membership effectively
• Assess impact of potential compromises
• Conduct recovery procedures following security incidents
• Immediately notify government COMSEC Manager/Custodian of all non-compliant COMSEC issues
• Advise government COMSEC Manager/Custodian and cryptonet members on appropriate actions in case of network key compromise, including:
• Activate emergency supersession protocols
• Enable cryptographic period extension by exception when warranted
• Facilitate Incident Reporting and Incident Management
• Monitor, identify, and report security incidents including but not limited to:
  • Loss of accountability
  • Improper destruction of materials
  • Possible tampering
  • Failure to perform key processor changeover
  • Unsecured or unauthorized access
  • Improper storage of COMSEC material or equipment
  • Unauthorized use of keying material
  • Loss of COMSEC material
  • Loss of two-person integrity

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• 2+ years experience in COMSEC operations and key management
• Working knowledge of NSA COMSEC policies and procedures
• Experience with key management infrastructure and cryptographic systems
• Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records and documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to security protocols
• Experience in incident response and management

Preferred Qualifications

• EKMS/CMCS certification
• Experience working directly with NSA or other intelligence community organizations
• Knowledge of DISN architecture and operations
• Familiarity with TEMPEST standards and requirements
• Experience with modern cryptographic key management systems
• Background in telecommunications or network security

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.
Position may require occasional travel to secure facilities.
