Our Herndon, VA client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a full time opening. All applicants should be U.S Citizens with active Secret Security Clearances. All applicants will be subjected to a 6 month probation period.
 
Senior Network Engineer
This Senior Network Engineer will support our global MPLS network, our Network Operations Center Tier III engineering staff, and Government customer programs.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as SME for Data network technologies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, software, devices and appliances in support of infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot network problems, network device configurations and coordinate with various department administrators to facilitate connectivity issue resolution.
  • Interface with key Government technical representatives for the implementation, troubleshooting and reporting on contractual requirements and service level agreements (SLA).
  • Perform network upgrade testing and verification in lab environment before major implementation.
  • Prepare network or infrastructure Visio Topology diagrams, writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance plans.
  • Design and optimize network topologies. Apply network concepts and principles to build robust efficient networks, which meet network security and business needs, ensure reliability, and maximize network uptime.
  • Provide status reports as required, participate in data calls and other common operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Know and adhere to Company policies, procedures and work rules and demonstrate a strong work ethic, and teamwork.
Requirements
  • Active Secret Clearance or above
  • Extensive experience with Cisco Network Technologies with an emphasis 802.1q trunking, OSPF, encrypted GRE/mGRE tunnels (isakmp/IPSec), MTU considerations, reassembly
  • Experience with VRFs and inter-VRF routing.
  • Experience with MPLS networks and environments
  • Experience with DMVPN networks and environments
  • Ability to audit and configure firewall policy
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with the following:  IOS-XE, mGRE, Policy-based routing, HQoS, MP-BGP, EIGRP, port channel (ether channel), QinQ, BFD, non-stop forwarding and non-stop routing, OSPF, and reflexive ACLs.
  • Experience with supporting and maintaining Cisco ASR and ISR routers, Switches.
  • Ability to diagnose and correlate network events and problems from network management systems software such as Solarwinds.
  • Experience with supporting and maintaining wireless networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and systems administration; and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Experience with Government proposal process to include solution development, writing, and editing of technical volumes
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Government proposal process to include solution development, writing, and editing of technical volumes
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements and design requirements
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Interworking Expert (CCIE)
