We are seeking an AWS Architect for a fulltime position in Washington, DC. All applicants must be USC with active Top Secret clearances.
The AWS Architect is responsible for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet functional requirements in support of a given initiative. The AWS Architect is the leader and driver in establishing architectural vision and direction, architecting solutions, providing advice and guidance, monitors emerging technologies, and assists in software and service procurements. Broad exposure to different Cloud vendors, technologies, and practices is preferred, with deep AWS experience being required.
  • Be a trusted advisor for cloud initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights and advice while also building organizational partnerships and networks to ensure comprehensive cloud capabilities are developed with input from appropriate business and IT resources
  • Contributes to the technology strategy by identifying, assessing and recommending external trends in technology, technology solutions, and methodologies.
  • Exercises solution design leadership on initiatives, driving alignment to target architecture and design standards
  • Facilitates architecture reviews, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and consistency across organizational and design boundaries
  • Creates solution options and solution architecture, adhering to architectural standards and the technology roadmap, and minimizing technical debt
  • Designs solutions that involve complex, multi-system integration, possibly across business units, or general domains
  • Drives alignment between Security teams, Infrastructure Teams, Enterprise Applications / Operations, Support, and business needs - acts as a pivotal point between all teams as a part of a “Center of Excellence”
  • Participates in application rationalization and the development of application architecture roadmaps
  • Identifies applications and platforms impacted by the solution, the need for new platforms, and drives platform selection where required
  • Facilitates large groups of diverse stakeholders to obtain consensus on target solution, articulating value-add and reference architecture to potentially non-technical stakeholders
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for optimal application of technology to meet business needs. Conducts Proof of Concept for feasibility studies where required
  • Sets Cloud infrastructure vision and direction and drives development of infrastructure architecture strategy and long-term planning (e.g. infrastructure architecture blueprint and roadmap)
  • Develops, documents, communicates, and enforces infrastructure standards, policies and procedures for standardizing infrastructure assets, delegating where applicable but acting as an individual contributor as well
  • Performs reviews of existing deployments to ensure they are consistent with the infrastructure architecture Qualifications established by the Cloud Center of Excellence group
  • Proactively meet standards for information security and compliance, previous experience with NIST a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • 8+ years of working experience designing, developing, and delivering technology solutions
  • Expertise migrating on-premise virtualized workloads to AWS is a plus
  • In-depth experience in the design of multi-tiered technology architecture
  • In-depth familiarity with complete suite of AWS Services, with particular depth in those that are heavily used when providing end-to-end Automation solutions, including tools like CloudFormation, Code* Services, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, EC2, IAM, OpsWorks, Route 53, S3, RDS, SES and VPC
  • Preference shown to candidates with AWS certifications
  • Working experience in broad cloud computing concepts particularly related to IaaS and PaaS approaches
  • Expertise in delivering solutions deployed in the cloud, agnostic of vendor
  • Expertise architecting complex, multi-system cloud based solutions
  • Working experience developing architecture principles and standards
  • Experience with the use, deployment and ongoing maintenance of an Enterprise Architecture model using commercial modeling products
 Must possess an active TS clearance (SCI preferred) and ability to obtain a Q/SCI clearance. To ensure Q clearances are processed in a timely manner (3-6 months), candidates must be natural born citizens. It is recommended not to consider candidates with immediate family members that are not natural born citizens as the processing time will likely exceed 6 months. Immediate family members include parents, siblings, spouse/partner, children.
